moi?

My name is Darcy.

My birthday's on May 28, my star sign is Gemini and my Chinese astrology sign is Sheep.

My username comes from the French expression to describe a "cloudburst" or a rainstorm

I am a very, very extroverted person except when online/with people I don't know. I get mad easily but over it just as easily. I love my friends and my family but really often prefer being alone.

I am currently in my second year of post secondary, working toward a Bachelor of Arts. When I grow up I want to be a couch potato but unfortunately that looks like it will have a slim chance of happening.

les choses que j'aime?

I love history like it's going out of style - which it is actually not. I love traveling and learning about different cultures and their languages. I love whimsical things and I also love interior decorating, at least for my own purposes. I enjoy cooking as well, though I'm not very good at it.

I've been writing since I was very young - my mum has had the decency (?) to keep all the stories I wrote when I was little so I can look back in shame. I have both a Fanfiction and Fictionpress account, although my Fictionpress stories are all on hiatus at the moment since I recently discovered a new fandom.

le film?

I love foreign language films; particularly French and German ones. I also tend to like the "oldies" - like "Jean de Florette", "Singing in the Rain", "La Cage Aux Folles", "Cabinet of Dr. Caligari", "Carmen Jones" or "Aus einem deutschen Leben".

I love animated movies, too - I really like the short film "Hedgehog In The Fog" by Yuri Norstein.

I enjoy comedies because I get depressed really easily, but it's hard to find good comedies nowadays so I usually avoid them. I also have a weak spot for Westerns. Why? Don't know. Movies I also like include "Amelie", "Children of Men", "Four Weddings and A Funeral", "The Royal Tenenbaums", "The Aristocats", "Were the World Mine" and "The Matrix Reloaded".

As for television shows? Right now it's Doctor Who, Big Bang Theory, CSI: NY, Bones, Family Guy, Boston Legal, and Pushing Daisies

les livres?

I don't really have a particular genre that I like when it comes to books. Lately I've been reading more history-oriented books, but I enjoy Brit chick lit/teen fantasy/Agatha Christie/Mythology/Nancy Drew just as much as the next person. What is currently piled on my bedside table in a disorderly READ ME stack:

Farewell Britannia: A Family Saga of Roman Britain by Simon Young
Six Wives: The Queens of Henry VIII by David Starkey
Going Dutch: How England Plundered Holland's Glory by Lisa Jardine
Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters and Seymour, an Introduction by J.D. Salinger
On to Victory: The Canadian Liberation of the Netherlands, March 23-May 5, 1945 by Mark Zuehlke
The Pisan Cantos by Ezra Pound

Tennessee Williams, William Wordsworth and Sylvia Plath are usually who I read in terms of poetry.

la musique?

The Hush Sound, The Barenaked Ladies, Coldplay, Black Eyed Peas, The Shins, The Kooks, Eisley, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Paramore, The Corrs, St. Vincent, Yelle, A Fine Frenzy, Wintersleep, Rogue Traders, Thandiswa, Guns N' Roses, Tegan & Sara, OK Go, Yves Klein Blue, Phoenix, Wir sind Helden, Regina Spektor, Vienna Tang, Lara, Rilo Kiley, Bonjour Brumaire, and The New Pornographers are all on my Recently Played list.
